God has placed eternity in the hearts of men. He longs to hear praises to Him in every tongue, in every music. He also created each culture different and unique. People from every culture have a heart music; a music and artistic expression that touches their innermost being.
Many indigenous cultures grow up learning one language and over time learn the official language of their country. Many times when churches are planted among these peoples, their language and culture is overlooked. Because of this, many of these indigenous churches find themselves stagnant and experience little growth.
We believe the key to see these indigenous peoples grow in the Lord, be effectively reached, begin to evangelize their own peoples, and be released into foreign missions is through the redemption of their God-given cultures. Through promoting and encouraging the use of their own traditional music and arts to give glory to the God of the Bible, we will see these peoples fully and genuinely take hold of who God made them to be.
Project “Sounds of the Jungle” was started to address this issue here in Panama. Congruent with the vision statement of YWAM Panama, we want this ministry to be a model that can be utilized in the unreached world.
Our Goal is to see every indigenous tribe in Panama have a sound and culturally relevant witness of God and a clear and understandable opportunity to hear the Gospel message in a non-foreign means of expression. We accomplish this goal through various workshops and partnering with other like ministries who work full time in each of these indigenous tribes. We would love to have more people who are passionate about worship and seeing people worship in their own languages.
